Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Prototype Conquers -30 Deg For Winter Testing

Hyundai's upcoming electric crossover, the Ioniq 5, has been spied testing in cold weather conditions. A test mule of the Ioniq 5 N prototype was spotted near Hyundai's European Technical Center in Germany.

The test mule was covered in heavy camouflage, but it was still possible to make out a few design details. The Ioniq 5 N prototype will get a sportier appearance than the standard model with a different grille, sporty wheels, and a new rear bumper.

The Ioniq 5 N prototype is expected to be powered by a dual-motor setup producing around 300 hp. It could also come with a larger battery pack than the standard Ioniq 5, which offers a range of up to 480 km (298 miles) on a single charge.

The Ioniq 5 is based on Hyundai's E-GMP electric platform and is equipped with a host of advanced features, including an augmented reality heads-up display and a Vehicle-to-Load function that allows the car to power electronic devices.

Hyundai is expected to launch the Ioniq 5 later this year, with sales beginning in select markets shortly after. The sportier Ioniq 5 N prototype is expected to follow at a later date.
